For the first time google refused to search indicating that
my computer should be checked for spyware or virus. I went
to sleep and tried again 7 hours later. Still the same reply
from Google.
Does anyone know anything about this? I am running firefox
on Suse 10.

Google is currently working. I just connected to it.
Furthermore, I see no report of it having been down recently. Certainly not for as long as you have been unable to contact it.
Perhaps your Internet connection is down or your have a DNS configuration problem.
If you have recently reconfigured Linux, you might want to scrutinize your changes.
If you are at home, perhaps your cable modem or DNS modem is not working. Make sure they have good ventilization around them so they aren’t overheating or whatever. You might need to try powering them off and back on again. Sometimes they get in a flakey state of mind and need to be reset that way.
Sounds like you may need to check your computer for viruses, adware, and spyware to me.
