I stupidly (I know, shoot me) installed a special software toolbar on my pc (thinking it would get me software off the net) and I uninstalled it using Add/Remove function in Windows XP. I have noticed that it still opens up spam windows on my pc when I browse the net. It is most certainly annoying to experience this. I have used Ad-Aware and Spybot but they don’t seem to remove the program. How do I stop this program from hijacking my browser? Thanx!!!

MalwareBytes – MalwareBytes.org. Run a quick scan and then continue to run a full until you get a return of 0. In some cases when you double click the setup file it may not do anything or give you an error. In this case rename the mbam-setup.exe file to say “cakeparty.exe” This normally works to bypass the black list a virus uses. If you can i would recommend running in safe mode (F8 at start up before the Welcome screen) you will have just the basics running keeping some things at bay that would normally fly up.
